Agree with this....one geezer to another Just a thought or 2....the dot on the gear, needs to be on line with the rotor pointer, or you be out of phase. The other thought, would be as mentoined farther above....you might take a big screw driver, & tap on the pump driver, to be sure that it is seated? If you missed the slot/tang, that dist will be at least 1/2 inch up longhorn

I got it down. The shaft must not have seated at the oil pump. I took a long screwdriver and just tapped it and the shaft went down a little and now the distributor sits as it should. 1 problem down. I changed my dizzy gear to a melonized one and the one I put on does not have the dimple on it. How do I make sure it's on correctly without the dimple?

I don't see how the position of the distributor gear on the distributor shaft has anything to do with the rotor being out of phase?
