Re: purchased a 2000 1500

That was supposed to say 1999 - 2006

Avalanche as well.

The main consideration, you need to make sure the previous owner didn't modify the hinges on the cab. If they are modified there is no easy way to replace the cab side hinges. If they are not modified on the cab, double check that they are not modified on the doors.

Some of those stupid kits are bolt on and allow for easy return to normal operation, some kits ruin the cab hinges and / or the door hinges.

Post photos when you can, I am curious to see what you have, hinge wise.

Where is IE California?

Re: purchased a 2000 1500

shoot a couple pictures for here, i am curious.

why wont it pass smog and why cant you transfer it to your name to sell it? if the smog is an issue, then you could at least start the title transfer process, and then sell it. the new owner would be stuck with the lame-o doors and smog. sell it as-is so that you dont have to make it pass smog.

i am curious about the hinges, and what you mean by they welded the hinges.

thanks

Re: purchased a 2000 1500

ill try and submit those suckers later today. I will b having a photoshoot to sell that thing.

Cant transfer it to my name because the proof of smog was been passed 90 day. Therefore, I must resmog it. The evap and the wiring are issues on why it cant pass. Once it passes im sure someone will want it like that ahhah.

Yeah ill take some later it just sucks. I jumped the gun on this one haha

Been there done that... in fact the truck i just got back on the road, 2003 4x4 2500 HD was one of those jump the gun situations. good runner, ugly, had an issue of the left front lower ball joint was busted. 250$ for the truck, towed it home.

it was a basket case, a ball of tangled twine. needed every single brake component, including the master cylinder, hydro booster, power steering pump and abs pump (have not changed abs pump yet, its working good enough to drive to work and back). needless to say it was a $250 truck that turned into a 1500$ worth of repairs truck 2 minutes after i got it home. now the engine has to come out so i can replace the gusher of a rear main seal.

I feel your pain. lol

Re: purchased a 2000 1500

Good Luck trying to unload it !!!!
There's a buyer out there somewhere so be patient. As for myself, I don't mind a light project build every 2-3 years but I stick with mod free trucks or those with very minor mods that can easily be switched back to the stock look. My 99 LS1500 cost me $850.00 cash with a fresh rebuilt trans included. So far I've installed

the 4L60E trans
reman Torgue Converte
New Battery
New Starter
New Battery Ground Wire
2 New Dorman Actuators
New Fan Blower
New Cabin Filters
New JVC Double Din Stereo Upgrade
New Polk Door & Rear Pillar Speakers
New Passenger Door Power Window Reguator / Motor Assembly New Spark Plug Wires
New Spark Plugs

Darn thing is running / driving great with everything working as it should. Next I'll be installing new upper & lower Ball Joints because I noticed a little play in the front wheels that I'm not comfortable with and installing 4 new AC Delco O2 Sensors in her so that she'll pass the Maryland Smog Test. That should pretty much tightening her up for the Winter. My point is........buy cheap but buy smart and you never lose money on trucks.

SCREAM IT BROTHER! lol

yeah thats a bummer. your COULD fix those hinges but its not gonna be an easy fix. you literally gotta pull the dash and everything dash related to get to the backside of those hinges to weld new ones on. my cab is blown apart, no a single unwelded piece on it it at the moment so replacing hinges would be a NOW thing if i needed to. but yeah. real bummer.

not only did they cut the old hinge parts off they welded the new hinges on over the top of what was there. wow. someone really wanted lame-o hinges on their truck.

Re: purchased a 2000 1500

oh well thats what i get. I would not mess with them either.
The kid i bought it from said it was his uncles and he had it all fixed in 2000 for a show quality truck so im sure that is why. It still has a sticker on the dash from some show years back
