1940 chevy 3/4 "Nadine"

Starting to get started on Nadine a 1940 Chevy 3/4 ton truck I picked up in Saskatoon and took home to the far north

Searching the Vin Number and learning clues from varies websites learned about some of the 1940 truck specifics

I have a 1994 chevy S10 Ext Cab Donor chassis

12 bolt from a 67 Pontiac Parisienne
Richmond Gear 6 Speed I bought for My 85 Z28 sold the car and kept the new transmission

Might have a 4.8 liter LS motor for it

Plan to make it a rolling chassis this summer and work on engine and wireing over the winter

Re: 1940 chevy 3/4 "Nadine"

Yes mine is 1940 model 1430 3/4 ton pickup with orginal box made in Canada I think it was Oshawa

I was more interested in what year and model when I went through my vin number

year digit "0" which is 1939-1940 model

Thicker top grill bar is 1940 model specific

My parts truck I have not looked for a vin on it yet it belonged to the fellow I bought both trucks from his grandpa got it new and drove it a lifetrime with no brakes His papa drove it right up until he hit the house with it and Gamma made him park it

He said Pappa's truck is a 43 Russ tells me its a 41 by its signal lights

Re: 1940 chevy 3/4 "Nadine"

there are other clues, like the chrome handles and cranks (war year trucks dont have that) and the rear window die cast (41 only). its possible it was tagged as a 43 though! mine is a war production civilian 42 tagged as a 41. mine has the 42-46 rubber rear window gasket and bakelite cranks.

welcome! cant wait to see your 40 progress, they are extremely hard to find.

found a pic of the day we loaded them both up near Saskatoon
my 3/4 did not like the load or the new trailer I blew the brakes on the biggest hill on the way back home
