Re: Console Manual shifter

I was going to go out and measure the throw on my 3 speed today and didn't fight my way around back though the snow.

Re: Console Manual shifter

I've made a lot of progress on the console and I'm almost done.
My daily driver is a 2008 GMC Sierra so I ordered the console Lid latch and a spring loaded hinge for the lid. I ended up with 8" off the floor with the shifter boot area.

I will have the boot bezel CNCed from 1/4" thick aluminum and I ordered 2 Stainless steel cup holders.

More pictures later today.

Re: Console Manual shifter

Not familiar with the M22, but can you modify the trans to be a shorter throw?

I found out it has the shorter throw trans brackets on.

I tried for several weeks to make the throw shorter with this linkage, I could get a shorter throw but it was going to bind up anyway I did it.
I changed the pivot points many times.

I still need to trim the panel on the left some and panel bond and tack weld it all together.

Re: Console Manual shifter

It took for ever to get this CNC'ed for me.
Just needs to be polished (Aluminum). Way to hot to work on it.

Re: Console Manual shifter

To shorten the handle's travel you would have to change ratio of the shift arms.

The arm on the transmission has a set an not changable <V> angle change front to rear. Moving the spot where the shift rod goes in the arm in turn changes the distance the shift arm on the transmission moves plus changes the distance the shift knob moves.

That is how the short throw shifters for T-5 trans Works, they move the piviot point and the lever below the pivot point is longer so it's movement is is longer compared to the movement of the shift knob.
