sub woofer

OK, Im at the point of up grading the stereo in the truck and I'm thinking of installing a sub.
I could mount one behind the seat where the gas tank was or under the seat.
Any ideas?
Pictures would be appreciated.

Re: sub woofer

If you leanback folded forward it might depend on if you want that area for storage.

I've got a box about the same width as the behind the seat gas tank in mine with a 6x9 in each end in enclosed boxes and the middle is open on the top for storage but the seat in in it now is out of a 4 door and doesn't fold. When we had the 66 Toronado seat in it,we put a lot of stuff back there and my wife would stash her purse back there.

It's how wild you want to getwith the sound system and how creative you are.

Re: sub woofer

I used a Rockville RW10CA 10" under the seat. It handles 800 Watts & it’s low profile.

Re: sub woofer

hey mobileortho: I like the idea of a thin unit like you have. does it require an amp or is there one built in?
Ok, dumb question. Should have looked before I asked. Yes It does have a built in amp.

Yes, it does. I got it because it doesn’t take up too much room and it has a nice sound quality.

Re: sub woofer

That's a slick unit and isn't too spendy either when you factor in that it has a built in amp.

Re: sub woofer

you still need a head unit with pre-outs and a remote wire to turn on the amp. imo you need a head unit with power or another amp to drive your mid-range and tweeters. i listen to mp3s on a flash drive pretty much 100% of the time anymore in the 58truk. there are some pretty compact head units now that the cd has been eliminated.

Re: sub woofer

i did 2 10" shallow mount pioneer subs behind seat. my first time trying to do a kerf on a sheet of wood. worked well to follow curve of back of cab. you could do subs underseat as well.

amps mounted
