What years did GM use the NP205?

I am looking at a rolling 4x4 frame this weekend. It has a TH350 and NP205 transfer case. The front axle has disc brakes which makes it 71-72 or 71-7X? It just made me wonder what production year it could possible be.

They were used behind manual trannies from '69 - '80, in almost all applications, although there were a few NP203s behind manuals in 1974. They were used behind automatics in some '69s, and all '70 - '72s. There were some used behind automatics through the rest of the '70s although they are rare, because most automatic trucks in '73 - '79 got full-time NP203s. I recently parted out a '73 K20 that had the TH350/NP205. I am not sure if that was standard for the 3/4 ton for that year, or if it was an option. All 1980 GM 4X4s got the NP205 regardless of transmission. Starting in '81, 205s can be found in some 1 ton 4X4s, and this continued until '88 or '89 with the last couple of years only being in the crew cab old body style trucks.
