There should be 4 bolts or screws on the backside of the steering wheel, remove those, and pull the bag. Disconnect connector and take out bag. Should be golden from there to replace the ignition.

No they have openings in the back side of the steering wheel, that give access to lock tabs to release the air bag from the wheel. to access turn the wheel 90 degrees. you should be able to see the holes above and below the shroud. Which really doesn't matter anyway because you don't need to remove the steering wheel to replace the ignition switch.

As bighaas79 already stated the airbag/steering wheel doesnt need to be removed to change the ignition switch or key switch.
