Cam swap in my 69 c10
I ask a question a few weeks ago about cam vs mpg. Thanks for all your reply.
I had a itch that I had to scratch. Yesterday I took out my summit k1102 cam, 204-214 @ .50 and 420-440 lift. I replaced it with a comp xe256, 212-218 @.50 447-454 lift. Wow what a differance! I am very happy I did. I will check my m8lage in a few weeks after having fun w8th it. I can feel a differance from take off all the way thru the power band. Also I can not hear any valve train noise that I have read so much about. Well worth it, I'm a happy man! |

And if you bump your initial timing up a bit to work with the bigger cam you'll be even happier!

I shoot for 17-18* initial then go drive it at WOT to see if it pings under full mech. adv. *Most* sbc/bbc with any kind of performance cam usually like 36-39 all in from my experience. Some like even more. It takes a little trial & error to find your engine's sweet spot.

Congrats on taking a bold step! Glad you like it. I'm interested in hearing what happens to your mileage.

Yup, the Summit 1102 is too small for anyone under 75 years old. It feels exactly like a stocker to me. I'm kicking myself for not going a little bigger.
