72 jimmy with 35 on 2” lift??

Hey guys I live in the great state of Massachusetts (yuck) and next year I can only run a 2” lift on my 72 jimmy. I would like to keep my 35” tires and 16.5 x 12.5 wheels can it be done? Anybody have pics with this setup?

Re: 72 jimmy with 35 on 2” lift??

You may be limited with a 2" lift -

This is for 67-72 trucks / blazers based on my personal and collected info from other members.

33's require no lift on 8 inch and sometimes 10 inch wheels. (depends on backspacing for the wider wheels. 4 is best for wheeling.

35's require a minimum of 4 inches (show queen). 6 is best for wheeling.

36's require a minimum of 4 inches (show queen). 6 is best for wheeling.

37's require a minimum of 6 inches (show queen). 8 is best for wheeling.

38's require a minimum of 8 inches (show queen). 10-12 is best for wheeling.

40's require a minimum of 10 inches (show queen). 12+ is best for wheeling.

chime in if you run something larger.

All info is based on actual measured sizes OD, not stamped sizes. IE 40 inch hawgs are really closer to 38's and 38.5 hawgs are really closer to 36's. Parnelli Jones 38's are actually 38.2. I think you get the idea.

Stock fenders with no trimming also.

Re: 72 jimmy with 35 on 2” lift??

I would move to America. What kind of ridiculous law has MA passed now? 2" lift with 35/12.50s on 8" wheels will not work well at all. Tires will rub. I bought a truck with this combo and had to go to 33s right away. What reference do they have to distinguish a 2" lift from a 4" anyway?

Re: 72 jimmy with 35 on 2” lift??

Lol! I can relate. In 2010 I bought a 4Runner in MA and looked into a lift: there's a formula the state has to determine what is legal. I was not surprised but pi$$ed (also had to leave guns in NM when I moved there but thats an aside). IIRC tire size is also limited to a small percentage of OEM (3%?). Anyway, IMO a 2" lift looks good (or even 0"lift) with 33" tires.

And in Arlington you cant pump your own gas...

I think, they just measure headlight height at time of state inspection
