Re: How to drain the fuel tank

Going to have to drop the tank. I tried syphoning my tank awhile back and it was a pain in the arse and never did get it empty.

I guess that's good because gas thiefs will have a hard time too.

You'll always end up with some bad fuel at the bottom of the tank. IMO, what's mentioned before, regarding removing the tank, is your best option. While the tank is out, you can blow any residues thru the fuel line, with compressed air, and don't forget a new filter.

The easiest way to empty the tank is to let your wife or teenage kid borrow the truck. I guarantee it will be empty when you get it back!

I recommend just biting the bullet and dropping the tank. That way you can not only clean it better but you can have a chance to look inside and make sure there is nothing that may bite you in the butt later.

Your all right, dropping the tank is the right way to go...... that means I need to replace all the rubber feed, and supply lines. 43 year old rubber is harder than Japanese math !

I agree with the others. The fuel pickup doesn't go all the way to the bottom of the tank, so any water, rust, or sludge will be left in the tank unless you drop it and clean it out.
