hydro boost brake conversion question

I have many everything on my truck. Its my first old truck so its going to be a learning experience. I am thinking about going to hydro boost for my disc brake setup for the front. There is an 89 GMC 1 ton with most everything I need but my question is on the firewall the bracket looks to have 6 bolts holding it instead of 4 like most other truck. Can it work or even be worth my time?

A pic of my truck because people like pictures

Re: hydro boost brake conversion question

Mike,

The six bolts are no problem. The 89 will be metric threads so you'll need to get a hose that's metric on the booster end and std. thread on the power steering pump end, don't remember the PN.

Any special reason for wanting to go to hydro-boost? I did it when I put a Dana 60 under the front of my 4x4 for extra stopping power with the larger calipers but if the regular booster would have worked I would NEVER have switched!

Just wondering...

Good luck!

Check out the post by BR3W (just a little below your post) on the heat issue involved as well.

Re: hydro boost brake conversion question

The reason I am going with the hydroboost is I read it has more line pressure and since I have manual everything, I decided to give it a shot. Pick up a unit from a 94 astro van today so I'm wondering what M/C will work?
