Color ?

Recently picked up this 81. After looking at several charts for paint from 1981, I'm still not certain what this color was. It's got an orange tint when it's wet, but its not really there. All the browns offered look to dark. Anyone know for sure?

Re: Color ?

Is the SPID tag still on the inside of the glove box door? that will have the color code.
Edit; You probably already knew that, now that I see it's not your first squarebody..

Re: Color ?

It looks like Carmine Red to me, with a good fade.

Also looks like some panels have been painted, bed / door /fender seem to be slightly different. Not uncommon for the clip to be off, but usually cab and doors match better.

Re: Color ?

I wish the spid had been there lol. That would have been the easy way to know...but alas if it's easy it probably ain't mine lol I lost the spid presumably when the Po redid the interior. Its black and blue... which don't much match the exterior at all, but it's in good shape. It's got the only uncracked dash I've ever owned in a square lol so that's a plus. Anyhow, I took a shot in the engine bay. It's not perfect, but it seems like it's the same shade as the rest.

Re: Color ?

Maybe this will help, scroll down on the page of the link, It will show the colors. I say either Carmine or Red. You almost need to polish out a spot, so the true color will show. The trucks paint is pretty faded.

Re: Color ?

I didn't have time for a polish yet, but how about the wet look. It's been snow/rain here for the last week, might as well make the best of it lol
