Battery relocation question
On my truck the 'charge' wire on the back of the alternator goes directly to the battery with out any splice or junction. I believe that is the way the factory did it. If the battery was moved to the rear of the vehicle you would need a (long) heavy gauge wire up to the starter, and the ground to the frame, but what about the alternator charge wire? Can it go on the starter, or should it be routed separate back to the battery? I just wanted to know what is the most effective way for the alternator to charge the battery.

Re: Battery relocation question
If I was relocating the battary I would run a single, heavy cable tothe engine bay and terminate it at a junction box. That way you can run all your engine connections to that.

Re: Battery relocation question
Run it to the starter.
Then, grab the red wire that goes to the battery, the one that feeds the fuse block, and relocate that to the starter too. Your alt has hed some rewiring done, that wide off the back is supposed to splice into the single red wire that goes from the battery, across the core support (behind the dvr headlight is where the splice used to be, it should be crimped and soldered from the factory) and from there it would go to the fuse block. |
