57 chevy 3600

I have found a 57 chevy 3600 without the bed, can get it for about 800.00. needs alot of work of course but want to make sure it wasn't sold as a cab and chassis because I want to put a bed back on it. How can I tell the difference? Any help would be g greatly appreciated.

Re: 57 chevy 3600

I'm sure the 3600 is a 3/4ton truck, and should have single rear wheels...i/e not duals...so it probably willaccept a bed, although it probably will be a long bed.

Re: 57 chevy 3600

The 3600 was a 3/4 ton that could be had with duals. But the frame is the same regardless of the wheel configuration. 1957 (-'59) 3200 and 3600 beds were a bit longer than their '55/'56 counterparts. You can use the shorter longbeds on a '57 but it may necessitate trimming of the frame.

The 3800 beds are exceptionally long.

Re: 57 chevy 3600

that really opened the truth, the truck has potential but I really don't want the longer bed and since this is actually my first resto. at the age of 42 lol I really don't feel confident trimming the frame. thanks for the info and direction to the website
