1951 Door hinge question

I'm not sure what these are called but they cover the opening on the cab that the hinge fits into. They were spot-welded onto the hinge but I removed them to straighten or replace them. Three of the four are useable but as you can see, one is badly rusted. Does anyone make a reproduction piece that anyone knows of? All the extra holes are from my spot-weld cutter.

Might be cheaper to buy some flat steele and cut your own out. Just get it as close to the right thickness as possible and trace your outline.

Re: 1951 Door hinge question

I considered that but was hoping not to have to. As many of these trucks are out there and as beat up as these get I thought surely someone would be making and selling them.

They are made but you have to buy the hinge to get them.about $50.00.

Re: 1951 Door hinge question

$150 a set for hinges is about the cheapest I've seen and refurbishing them is pretty inexpensive. I'll fab something up that will work, it's not a show truck.

Re: 1951 Door hinge question

I have the same problem of rusted hinge plates. Over at Stovebolt.com in their tech tips there is a detailed way to fabricate the plates. Looks easy to do.

Re: 1951 Door hinge question

I know this is old but I ran across it in another search and have good info. I found Dr. J’s Restoration Rex via Flysocal and just got my hinges rebuilt. Not cheap but they turned out great and there should be no fit issues.

He also offers new faceplates which I took advantage of: http://drjsrestorationrx.com/wp-cont...5223578299.jpg
