pitman arm for 4x4 power steering

I have been searching everywhere and can't find a definitive answer on this.

I have a 71 4x4 jimmy with manual steering that I am trying to convert to power steering. Trying to source my parts before tearing it down.

I know that the pitman arm is different (larger shaft opening) for manual and power steering on 2WD gears but is the pitman arm different on the 4x4 gears?

The only place I have even been able to find a pitman arm listed for sale is LMC and they have one part number 34-2230 listed as W/power steering but they don't reference a manual steering arm.

Just trying to figure out if I need to order a new arm or if I can use the one already on my manual gear when I swap in the power steering gear

Re: pitman arm for 4x4 power steering

Thanks a lot! I will get under the truck and take some measurements soon and let you know what I have.

I just edited my original post because I realized there wasn’t enough info. I have a 71 Jimmy that I am converting from manual to power. I bought a 2wd steering gear by mistake and am currently sourcing a 4x4 one so I can’t just check the steering gear to see if the arm fits

I'm pretty sure all the 4x sector shafts were the same sizes which would make the pittmans the same. Unusual for a 4x manual steer box

Good to know. It makes sense I suppose as they would already be beefier as it is. I didn’t know that a manual was rare. Thanks!

If the 4x4 sectors are the same size do you know of the manual shaft can be swapped into a power box?

Re: pitman arm for 4x4 power steering

2wd power steering gears have tapered shafts & the arm secures with a nut on the end of the shaft.
4x4 power steering gears have straight shafts & the steering arm secures to the shaft by clamping with a thru nut & bolt.
