72 GMC swap q's

I have a 1972 gmc with rear leafs, 1/2 t, a/t, 2wd.

I have a 1967 chevy 3 quarter ton 4wd donor truck. I want to keep my 72 frame for the power steering and frame quality so I can't just move the body over.

Since my 72 already has rear leafs, how difficult would it be to swap the axles / springs and brackets over from the donor truck to mine? Like I said, I would rather keep the newer frame, wouldn't this be a matter of bolting in the new parts with out too much hassel?

Thanks for the help!

Re: 72 GMC swap q's

If you are up to doing some welding on the 2wd frame, the swap of parts can be done. The 2wd's brake lines or emergency brake will have to be cut out on the front of the frame becasuse that is the area for the front leaf spring shackles would mount to. If you can't do this kind of fabbing just swap the body onto 4wd frame instead.
