sun super tach

1989 v2500

Any pics/ideas on tach mounting locations. I was going to strap it to the column like we did when we were kids but there is too much stuff on the column to get a hose clamp around. thought about the dash, or getting a small tach and installing it where there is a blank under the volts.

Re: sun super tach

My current truck has one strapped to the column. I like it there, easy to see when needed. My old truck had one that the previous owner mounted on the dash. I didn't really like it there, and it also required screwing it into the expensive dash pad. So I wouldn't recommend that. When I redo my gauges, I'm going to put the tach where the gas gauge is, and then move the gas gauge to the blank.

What year truck do you have? The column was my first choice but no where can i get the hose clamp around it with out something in the way. (key, blinker, tilt)

It's a 1978. I don't have tilt, but I have a lot of room on my column. I imagine if it did have tilt it would still fit. The clamp is probably about a half inch wide, and I have the tach as close to the gauge bezel as it can comfortably go.
