Just wondering---I am working heavy on my 56 1/2 chev now and I am at the point where its steering column mockup time----How far should the steering wheel actually be from the dash? I dont have the seat in yet either----just a general idea please.

Re: 1956 tilt column

Need to mock up your seats to, so the relationship between seat and column work with your body type. What works for a short stocky person like me may not be the same for you. I have a 82 eldo tilt telescope in mine. Here is the mock up photo I did, tape line is door window sill. Also need to consider the view of instruments thru the steering wheel, I had to drop mine about 1.5 inches from initial install to get a clear view of mine.

Re: 1956 tilt column

Also, steering wheel you will use. In my photo I had the eldo wheel on. Later I changed to a 48 wheel (flat) I adapted, which gained a inch or so in room.
