Rearend Problem???

I have a 2000 silverado 2wd with a 5.3l and a posi rearend. I noticed today when i turn the wheels real hard and sharp my rearend or transmission is grinding and growling??? Any thoughts on this??

He DID say it could be the transmission.

I assume you haven't had the cover off yet?

Okay, I dopped it off at the shop that serviced it, I will post you guys what they tell me, once I know. Thanks for most of your replies!

with it doing it when turning that leads me to think it might be an axle bearing.

Brakes. Specifically, if you have rear discs, the fist sign of the internal parking brakes being worn to the metal is a grind when turning, usually right for some reason. basically these are a cable actuated drum brake inside the disc brake rotor, and they drag aned wear out, even if not used.

Solution is to replace the parking brake pads, being sure to turn the internal drum of the rotor to the full width of the new pads.
