71 suburban options

I am buying 71 suburban. It has several odd options. Just wondering if any of you have seen any of them before. I dont have a good picture of the spid, so I will list the options here.

model=ke20906 1A68AF REAR CENTER SEAT BELT
1A80AC CENTER AND REAR SEAT 1F60AH HEAVY FRNT SPRING
1G50AG HEAVY REAR SPRING 1M20AK 4 SPEED
1RQ4AA 875X165X8 TIRES 1RQ4AF 875X165X8 TIRES
1RQ4AG 875X165X8 TIRES 1V01AG HEAVY DUTY RADIATOR
1V76AA FRONT TOW HOOK 1634AG BLACK VINYL TRIM
9461EA FRONT WHEEL LOCKING 9638AA PERMANENT ANTI-FREEZE
9640AJ RADIATOR SIGHT GAUG 9745AA MAGNETIC PLUG UNIT
9745JA MAGNETIC PLUG UNIT 9745KA MAGNETIC PLUG UNIT
9745LA MAGNETIC PLUG UNIT 9868AA CIGARETTE LIGHTER
9893AA RADIATOR GRILLE GUA 9907AB TAG UNIT
9909DA VEHICLE DECALCOMANI 9909SD VEHICLE DECALCOMANI
9958QA UNDERCOAT UNIT 9964BA ASSIST HANDLE UNIT

What is the Assist handle unit, vehicle decalcomani, magnetic plug unit, and tag unit. I think it must be some kind of government vehicle.

Re: 71 suburban options

Never heard of the Magnetic plug unit, Radiator Delcalcomani, or assist handle unit; but I am sure there are some members on here that have and can tell you all about them. It definately sounds like this truck was ordered to either do some unusual work or work in an unusual terrain. Its definately got workhorse options and not second family vehicle options!

The radiator sight guage is an unusual option also.

The vehicle decalcomani is cut short on the spid, it is decal something I would assume.

It does have some heavy duty stuff. But it does have the optional seat package.

Yes the radiator sight gauge is unusual as well! Whatever it was intended for it needed to work hard and get alot of people to the job site. Maybe it was an oil field, railroad, or timber company truck?

Here is a pic of the spid. Do you think the magnetic plug on there 4 times are plugs in the trans, transfer case, front and rear diff? Just guessing...

I don't know! If you don't get much help in this section I would repost a similiar thread in the 67-72 general trucks section where there is far more traffic. I would also be interested in finding out what these options are all about.

Re: 71 suburban options

Sounds like some options that would have been listed on a fleet or government truck. We had a shortbox stepside from the Army that had a quite of few odd options, but not like the ones you show.

Re: 71 suburban options

magnetic drain plugs in the engine, trans, and both diffs.
the sight glass in the rad is a common fleet/gov item

What color was the truck originally... do you have a good photo of the SPID, does it say anything else on it?

Re: 71 suburban options

Thanks for the information.

I have not got the suburban yet. We have been busy at my job and have not had time to go and get it.

The pic above is the only one I have of the spid. It does not mention color. The truck was silver. It was a government vehicle from 1971-81, but I don't know what it was used for.
