4L60E - PWM converter delete
In replacing the transmission in a friend's '98 K1500 (350, ext. cab, 4x4), I came across a deal ($200) on a rebuilt 4L60E with an integral bell housing and picked it up. Somehow I missed the memos on the torque converter differences, etc., but given how little I have in the transmission it's still worth it to use it.
I already have the 4-bolt transfer case adapter for the older transmission and am aware the cooler lines will need shortened. The pump housing on the new tranny has "PWM" cast into it... but with the rest I'm largely lost. Would someone be so kind as to outline what I'll need to change on the '98 to get the '96-7 transmission to work properly? Does the transmission need a shift kit installed to lock out the ECCC? Or do I need a non-ECCC TCM? Will I want a non-ECCC torque converter? Any help is much appreciated.

Re: 4L60E - PWM converter delete
I don't think there is a difference in the way that it runs. I looked at 2 tranny's today, one a 97, and the other a 99. The plugs were identical. The 97 had the 4 bolt taihousing, the 99 had the 6. 97 fixed bell, 99 removable.
