Original air cleaner on new Holley carb

Anyone running an original air cleaner and quadrajet spacer on a new Holley 4bbl carb? Should it fit? Wanting to put one on a street avenger 4bbl Holley.

I know it will fit on a Carter/Edelbrock, should fit a Holley with no problem either.

Re: Original air cleaner on new Holley carb

I am using the original riser with the breather tube but with an aftermarket air cleaner and a Street Avenger carb. I did have to modify the riser because one of the Holley butterfly shafts was contacting the riser and binding. I can post a couple pictures of the modification if you are interested.

Thanks to both for a quick response. I'd definetly be interested in some pictures of the riser mods.

You need to create bulges in the riser at each end of the butterfly rod where it contacts the riser. It's a very simple modification after you mark the correct locations. The only tools needed are a ballpein hammer, a vise, a short piece of 1" pipe (I used some copper plumbing pipe I had on hand) and another hammer.

Picture #1: Mark the locations (after I took this picture, I realized I needed to rotate the riser 180 degrees so the hose from the rear of the right valve cover would enter at the correct location).

Picture #2: Shape one end of the pipe to match the curvature of the riser.

Picture #3: Place the ballpein hammer, rounded end up, in the vise.

Picture #4: Place the riser over the hammer in the vise so it contacts the marks where the rod binds. It may help to have someone hold it in place.

Picture #5: Place the piece of pipe on the riser above the ballpein hammer and hit it with the other hammer until you have created enough clearance for the carb rod.
