5000 rpm tach to 8000

I have a factory 5k tach, I want to put in the 8k from LMC, is the 8k a direct install or do I have to get the conversion kit?

Re: 5000 rpm tach to 8000

I put the 8,000 kit in from Brothers in my 72. It appears that if I would have had a 5,000 to begin with, which I didn't, I could have just switched out the tach and lense. FYI if I had it to do over I would have bought the five as the lense doesn't line up well with when seated in the drivers seat. I think the angle is wrong and markings too small. Good luck
