Late models 6-lug wheels

What thickness adapter/spacers are required to run late model (6-lug) wheels?

Thanks!

Hence one of the reasons for the adapter. Not a concern for me, the wheels I own have a large center bore.

I am concerned about offset.

Re: Late models 6-lug wheels

I run 22x9 GM Transit wheels with 6" backspace which I believe are the same specs as the nicer late model wheels that replace them after shipping. On the front, I have no spacers and they fit perfectly. On the back, you need to run at the bare minimum a 1" spacer or else they will hit the inside of the wheel tub.

What lug nuts did you use for the front wheels? The factory lugs don't seem to be the right seat.

You're right, they are not. I eventually plan to upgrade to 1/2" studs when I do the disk brake swap, but for now I am running these acorn style nuts from Summit. They seat much better. They are about 1/2" deeper than the stock nuts so the studs don't come anywhere near the end of the nuts, but they still grab as many threads as the original nuts.

So you had to bore out the center of the wheel to get the fronts to fit correct?

Correct. I didn't originally mention that because you said you had wheels with a large center bore. I think if you have a front disk conversion, the fronts will fit without being bored.

Boring the heels never made much sense to m. Why not turn down the center of the hub so that any later wheel would fit. I don't like spacers very much but it' up to you.

For me, it was either go through the hassle of turning my hubs, or just pay a few dollars extra and have the center of the wheels bored by the guy I bought the wheels from. I don't plan on putting anything other than steel wheels on my 6 lug setup, so it doesn't matter to me that no other modern 6 lug wheels will fit. In general though, I agree, have your hubs turned so that you have some freedom to change things up in the future.
