Question Quadrasteer

Thinking about getting an 05 Sierra with Quadrasteer. I have been researching and it looks like GM discontinued parts for the Quadrasteer system. I was wondering if anyone has any info. The Denalis used to come with it also. Also, any pics of Quadrasteer trucks?

Re: Quadrasteer

My Dad has a Quadrasteer. GM could have sold millions more of these but they were poorly marketed. I thought at the time the bedsides were ugly and the cost was too high but after he got one I changed my mind, at least about the cost.

You can't beat the ride and handling. Really, it's like a totally new experience. Having the turning radius of a Honda Civic is super handy, especially in a crew cab truck. You can whip into parking spaces, bust U-turns at will and back into anything. You can switch between crab steer or opposite steer. The crab steer makes smooth lane changes, and it's actually much safer on the highway. Also safer in general in the rain.

But, maintenance is expensive. The rear has two hydraulic rams, steering knuckles, special differential and it's own computer module! When something goes bad, which it will, it's going to cost you. Dad had the system lock up and also totally unlock which nearly flipped him over on the highway. Then he got a slightly larger set of tires, like 31's maybe and the computer messed up again. The rear end currently whines excessively.
