Cool New to board.....1971 Sub, currently in IRAQ

Hi all, I am new to the board and hope to give and receive info and tips on my newest project, a 1971 sub. I picked it up on ebay about a year ago, been collecting parts and finishing current project car(wifes 1996 Z28 LT4 383, 6 sp, white with orange stripes). My 1971 2wd sub has; sb400, t400, ft/rr a/c, 12 rear(3:73), Clam rear doors, and luggage rack. Needs complete restoration.
Plans are to install LT1 and 4L80E trans, 3/5 susp drop, shave everything(handles, emblems marker lights and gas filler), update interior(1995-2000 leather frt and rear), diamond plate aluminum bed, cowl hood, Roll pan with hidden hitch, caddy lights, rolling on 18's, bright yellow paint w/traditional flamed front. Finished by Dec 05. Will be doing all work myself and look forward to anybody stopping by the shop (Moody, TX) to check out my projects when I get back from Iraq.
Currently, I am in Iraq serving with 1st Cav Div, hoping to be home by Spring 05. Looking forward to all the interesting topics on the board.

Welcome, your service to us is not taken for granted.Glad you have this diversion.A friend woked in saudi a few years back(steel bldg construction)before the sh*t hit the fan.He said there were lots of old rust-free Chevys in boneyards.I figured one day we`d scarf on them once our sources were depleted.Hope they survive the Jehad. Be safe

Congratulations on your sevice to America. I applaud all veterans. I am one myself. Served in the infantry 101st Abn Div (Ambl) Vietnam. Any of you guys who were there know what (Ambl) means.

Yeah Super-K, I am surprised everyday at the number of 67-72 chevy trucks I see over here. I haven't gotten a close look at one yet, kind of hard to walk up to an Iraqi and say"Hey what motor you got in that thing".
