Thinking about moving again, we moved away from my family in ny to be more independent
And moved by her mom in georgia because we thought she was really sick. Turns out it was a mistake moving here my wifes family is very toxic and i dont want my daughter to groe up around it. So that said what are some good areas states , what do you like about where you live convince me lol i love the country hint hint. |

Re: New place to live?
I think everyone thinks another state would be better than where they live for one reason or another. I always thought North Carolina was a neat state east to west. I spent a lot of time driving through it a few years ago and I was surprised it seemed more populated than I originally thought. Now my new fascination is Montana and I want to spend some time driving through it seeing what all it has.
I think my dream spot would be unpopulated country side 10 minutes from an interstate that is a fast 50 miles from a small/medium size city for major needs. In other words west somewhere in an area with varying elevations to break the wind. Can you tell I've thought about this a little lol. |

Re: New place to live?
If I were to move I would consider the taxes of the state and it's driving distance to the shore. Those are things that would help my quality of life. You may different though.

Re: New place to live?
It also depends on what kind of weather you like. Reno is generally dry high desert with lots of rust free vehicles and the gun laws are pretty open there I believe. I have lived east of Portland where it is rainy, but very beautiful. I can't say enough about the beauty of Washington,Oregon, Northern California,Idaho. Other pac now people can chime in as well!

Jered ,have you considered just moving away from your Mother N Law to a nearby county ? I have been all over the country and I still love Ga but if I moved Tennessee would be a place I like around Springfield ,out in the country but close to the city .

Re: New place to live?
Sometimes I get online and look at places far away. It seems as though Mai e is pretty and houses are lower in price, but then again what is cost of living vs. Ca?

Re: New place to live?
God put me here so that's good enough for me.
That said, I like it here. It's in the middle of the country, so I can go any direction to follow my interests. Jobs are plentiful, cost of living and crime are relatively low. There are plenty of rural places I could and have lived, as long as I have mountains and streams. I'm not a flatlander. You right about the drama. Just get away from it.

Re: New place to live?
The hard truth , Your young , have a new baby , short on cash , and not enjoying your girls family . Time to suck it up butter cup , there is no fast easy fix to your situation and running won't help your marriage . not to mention trying to move to a northern climate in the winter . Your just going to have to deal with it all as best as you can until your situation improves . work 2 jobs or double shifts until things improve . having kids young isn't easy but it will get easier the harder you work for whats important to you . and if your working all the time they can't bother you as much .

Re: New place to live?
Grumpy is right. Work two jobs if you have to, but you have to quit letting them hold you hostage with money. Forget about financial ties you have with them now.
If you want to work outside, get a job with a utility contractor. The pay is good, lots of hours and you can get a job any time you want. A CDL is always good too. Good money and you can have a job in 8 hours or less anywhere.

Re: New place to live?
And when the time is right BUY a home because renting means your just buying someone else a home , Use the USDA rural development loan program to buy OR BUILD a home for your family . USDA has a few different loan programs and you'll be surprised what you can buy . pretty much anything not in the city limits , and 0 down, check it out many people have no idea these easy qualifying loans are available .

Re: New place to live?
Water, gas or electric utility worker. May take a little training or an apprenticeship but you will have a skill you can take anywhere when you're done. Most are 5 yr apprenticeships decent pay and you will work more often than journey level guys because you're cheaper to employ.
There always seems to be work for those who truly work hard and are hungry.

Re: New place to live?
I did a search under utility Construction in your area and there's a ton of jobs. You'll get the jobs nobody else wants it first and utility workers are generally not too worried about your feelings. But if you'll be the first one there in the morning and the last one to leave at night and and if you see a task that needs to be done, do it, don't wait for somebody else to. Don't wait for somebody to tell you to do that. You can climb the ladder fast and utility construction because young people don't have any competition. Most young people don't want to do it. The good thing is almost anywhere you go you can have a job in 24 hours. If you know what you're doing. Look around for a community college that offers truck driver training and get your CDL also.
