89 Burb: canoe rack recommendation?

A quick Google search indicates that several brands/types exist.

Any recommendations? Thanks!

Re: 89 Burb: canoe rack recommendation?

I found a stock roof rack off of like a 1990 suburban and put it on my 83, looks great and original, plus it works great with a canoe. Just put a strap on the front of the canoe down to the tow hooks, and the back strap to the trailer hitch. Name: IMG_1309.jpg

Huge fan of factory roof rack. I have a NOS one for a Blazer ready to install. Build quality is solid. Looks period correct. Rated for 200#s.

Electricduane - I vote for the factory roofrack as well. I found one in a junkyard complete with the chrome slide strips that attach to roof ribs and the installation was very simple using well nuts to secure everything and liberal amounts of sealant to keep everything water tight. I would also recommend the rear air dam if you can find it - there is a noticeable reduction in dust on the rear window, and the dam makes a very sturdy pivot point for loading a canoe.

Country Suburban - I like the look of your rims and tires. What size are the tires if you don't mind me asking? Looks like a no-lift truck as well.

No problem, my tires are LT285/75R16 Cooper Discoverer STT Pros. I am on stock suspension with no clearance issues. My truck does however have 3 leafs in the front from the factory instead of 2. (Fire department ordered it like that in '83) Here's a better pic.
