I think you are over thinking it. I think you're putting your kids in far more danger in your truck in traffic - without airbags - than being in the cab of truck with dried paint. Your kids... your truck... your call...

Well, they'd be in the backseat of the 69 Suburban, in their safety seats, strapped to modern seats from a 2014 Tahoe with a latch system and they'd be in my truck just going through the neighborhood, about 2 miles total, to and from Daycare, but I see your point.
