1972 K5 Blazer

Found a 72 dark green CST for sale today. I couldn't get a real good look at it because I got chased away by a cab full of yellow jacket bees. If I was to pursue this purchase anybody got any ideas what this thing would be worth. Owner says transmission is no good.

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer

Not sure it is an after market bumper. Don't know if it's homage or not. Owner texted me to tell me he got the bees irradiated going to try get there today to have a better look. He's asking $25-3 for it. Went on kijiji to try find a comparison price but there's none on there here in Alberta.

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer

Looks good in the pics, but you'll want to look for rust/rot. Rockers, rocker boxes, floorboards, etc. are all areas of potential concern. Since trans is bad, it can't be driven, so won't be able to assess the driveability of it, and that's a risk.

If body is good and engine sounds good, $2.5k would be reasonable.

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer

Took another look at the blazer today. It's got it's fair share of rust that's for sure I'm thinking if I were to buy it I would likely part it out. It has a target master engine in it. It will back up and if you overfill the trans and rev it high it will move ahead. Not sure what I want to do just yet I'm going to sleep on it for a day or two.

If it's rusted, not worth $2.5k. Yeah buy it cheap and part it out.

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer

I would snatch it up while you can. The price of Blazers has been climbing steadily especially over this past year. $2500CDN would be fair, but you should be able to get it for less. You know how uncommon these are up in Canada and this ones looks like it hasn't been hacked on much which is a plus.

With the recent introduction of repair panels for these they are becoming easier to fix. How bad is the rust? If you don't want to repair it then I would buy it, Polish it up a bit and flip it, it would be nice to have it kept together.

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer

Rusty Blazers like that go for $6-7k in CAD up in Alberta from what I've noticed. Just saw one on kijiji for 8 last nigh, sold within a couple hours for near asking price. Was in similar condition to the one you were thinking of buying. If you could get that for $2000 I think that would be a great deal. You can't even buy a lwb 6 cyl 3 on the tree for that in Alberta anymore

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer

Stopped by today and took another look made an offer he's thinking about it. If he bites I may steal the back bumper and back seat for my man cave. And then flip it I know I don't have the time to work on it anyway. But could get a couple parts off it for myself. The rust on it is repairable but it's another project.

$2500-$3000 is a steal around here. Do i agree with the price? No! But it is what it is. Heck, worn out destroyed long boxes with no usable panels and a questionable drivetrain rarely sell for less than $1500 cdn. Its becoming a rich mans game!

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer

I know what you mean I'm looking at another 72 with a 68 front clip on it he's asking $2500 for it. It's likely worth that but how many can a guy own. I looked for a 71-72 for years now seems like every time I turn around I find another one for sale.

Finding them isn't a bad problem to have. I've been looking for one for a couple years and can't afford the $10k for one that runs and drive. If the dollar wasn't so bad for us Canadians I'd be buying one from down south. Here's to dreaming

Re: 1972 K5 Blazer
