CS130 charges but light stays on

Someone who put on a CS130 claims it charges at 14+ V but the light stays on. Supposedly he hooked the indicator light to the L wire in the PLFS connector and the S and alternator output wires eventually meet up in a junction before heading off to the battery. Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Thanks.

I think I found an answer in that this alternator has an additional function to turn the light on if there is something not right with the voltage.

If it was a P L I S connector I would agree but other wise there is maybe a bad diode in the alternator diode trio or the alternator rectifier diodes are bad and the alternator is not putting out enough voltage to turn the light off.

Is the light always on when the key is on or does it come on and go off?

Re: CS130 charges but light stays on

My understanding is that the light is on any time the car is running, yet it is putting out the 14V.

He was asking if he should put the black F wire to ground so maybe he messed something up doing that.

Anyway my conscience is clear. I don't think I gave him any bad information. This was on the removal of a Motorola alt and external regulator. I suppose it would be possible that we could have the same symptoms on one of our trucks.

Thanks VetteVet. You help a lot of people here and I love reading your replies.
