Post Tach question

My 72 didn't come with a tach in it, but will the wiring be there for it? I am going to replace the bezel and was just curious if the wiring was done for a tach on all the 67-72's

If adding to truck in your signature and you have a 6cyl and using factory take make sure its a 6cyl one not a V8 ,most after market takes you can use either way,by the flip of a switch)

A factory tach can be recalibrated with a small screw driver, for use on a 6 or 8 cylinder.

I will be swapping the inline 6 out in a couple months for a 350. I think i just might have to check into what the wiring harness will cost. Thanks guys

Wiring harness costs 18.95 from GMCPauls. I also opted just to buy the harness rather than make one saves on asprin. blaze

Ok, I found a pic of it at GMC Pauls website. Good price if you live in the USA, but $18.95 in Canadian, once the shipping and all is included, it's over $45!!

Man you guys in the States got it made when it comes to buying parts. I see cab corners are like $14 at GMC Pauls, we have to pay in the upwards of $40 CDN here. I think i should move to the USA just so I can finish my truck

Any 3 3/4" dia tach can be used. I have used 78-86 Camaro and Sun Super II tachs.
To wire a tach, (-)black to back of dash (screw)for ground, (+)red to ignition switch-on, or to fuse panel unfused (use a inline 10amp fuse), green to coil or HEI (tach).

The Camaro tach fits nicely into the dash metal case, the Sun requires alot more work.
