paint issues

Whats up with the white paint bubbling on the 2000 & up gm truck hoods? Ive had my 2000 gmc for 6 yrs and just last fall it began bubbling and peeling on the hood down to the primer. After paying attention to other white ones the same body style i see them doing the same thing. Its only the hood.

Re: paint issues

Some of the 99-02s just suffer from the priming issues that many of the OBS trucks have. My 96 just started peeling last year. So I think it's done good, probably wouldn't had, had it been taken care of abit better. You'll probably see your roof and tops of the doors go next.

Re: paint issues

I have a white 03 2500 ans my hood isn't bubbling but it has like black swirls under the clear coat, it's been like that since 04. The dealer told me I did it, but it was a factory mistake. Just the hood, all the other paint is durable.

Re: paint issues

My 99 Ext Cab has the peeling clear coat issue on the hood and roof in 5-6 small spots. When the truck sits in the sun on very hot days those spots peel like blisters and just get larger. I hate the paint issue but love the truck so I choose to deal with it until I get enough cash in hand for a good quality all over repaint.
