Rebuilt 4l60e question

We just got my brothers truck together last night after a tci rebuild, everything seems to work except you can only get first gear if you come to a complete stop and then stand on it. It doesn't downshift into first if your rolling or if you shift it down manually. Dont know how active this side of the site is as I spend most of my time lurking on the 67-72 side lol. If anyone has any idea what to check out anything is helpful., thanks.

Re: Rebuilt 4l60e question

Is the MIL on? If the trans is not shifting when the computer wants it to it will likely set a code.

edit: I remember two vehicles that were brought to me with shifting problems but no codes and in both cases found the shift solenoids were not properly seated with the retaining clip inserted into the o-ring groove.

Really, you need a good scan tool and look at the data to see if what you think is a problem is normal operation.

Re: Rebuilt 4l60e question

What year is the vehicle, is this a swap into a older vehicle ? Any external factors of the 4L60E we need to know about ?
