Show me your cans

Previous owner did not run a pcv , I’m blowing valve cover gaskets due to the excess crank case pressure so I’m putting together a system. 396 bbc, lumpy cam, low vacuum. I’m going to try PCV454, basically a hollow can with a pin hole at the bottom. I am also planning on adding a catch can. I would like to get some ideas on where/how to mount it. If you have one I would like to see how it was mounted.
Thank you

Re: Show me your cans

Why not just run a complete PCV system. A lot cleaner than a dump can

Re: Show me your cans

I'd try a PCV system first. The old Fram FV184 fit nearly all chevy V-8's for years and years...There's debate about the exact type of PCV to use with specific types of engines (as far as radical cams, idle speeds, etc...) I've tried several, didn't seem to make a crap on a radical SB 400, went with stock 75 Chevy pivkup (Fram Fv184) works fine...
I like the K&N valve cover filters. There's many different types depending upon your valve cover hole size.

IF, IF your engine truly needs a catch can, the engine needs to come apart!!!

One of the biggest problems with engines, pre crankcase ventilation days was the problem created by the LACK of ventilation. THe acrid vapors generated in the crank case quickly turn the oil into vile nasty crap. The oil would turn acidic and erode bearings and essentially the inside of the crank case...

My 2015, with 1200mi has a catch can and I dump out about 2 ounces of oil every 6 months. Every vehicle we have owned over the last 10 years has had one with same results.I would rather all that oil not go through my throttle body. I am going to run a PCV system in order to create healthy pressure/ventilation system. If you haven’t read all the research on catch cans, I would suggest it.

Tell me more about this. PM me. I have a 2015 and dont want this going through my dry intake. It clogs the intake ports and valves.
