Reproduction Rubber Floor Mat

I would be in the market for a few of the 60-66 high hump mats as well. I have purchased several mats from classicparts.com and have been happy with all of them. I would say the poorest quality one I have bought was the 60-63 high hump back when they still had some in stock.

I have been considering buying a 67-72 high hump mat to see if I can make it fit. I did something similar for my '60 C60. Since the big truck mats aren't reproduced and they have a very low center hump, I bought one for a 67-72 with an automatic and did my best to make it fit. Its not perfect, but certainly better than the alternative. And if you're just wanting to make it a nice driver, it would pass most critics I think. Link to that thread is posted below.

I have had my repro floor mat from Classic Parts of America for 9 months now and it is still stinking up my truck. The smell is terrible and I have tried cleaning it with a wide variety of cleaners to no avail. Others on this thread have said theirs do not smell. Perhaps I got a bad one, but I would like to know if anyone else has had a smelly experience with one of these recent reproduction mats.

I think this is the one we've all been waiting for..

sooo, I called Truck Shop yesterday for details and talked to three people that had no clue.. catalog number not in the ebay ad and catalog picture and description not the same.. can't hold one for will call at the store even with full payment.. and last but not least, no one had any idea whether it is the 'one' that we've all been waiting for or not..

I did find out that it has been available for 7 months and they had three left of the ebay item..

also tried Classic Parts but Brad is out and other gentleman had no idea.. even though their catalog description mentions new item, tooling, whatever, alluding to being the one we're all waiting for..

so my only choice was to buy one of the ones in the ebay ad and see what I get.. hopefully matches they way it looks..

mine arrived from Truck Shop today and although I didn't get it in, it does look like a good match!

and I apologized on the phone but should mention it here.. there's a small crease on the right floor pan next to the hump.. I thought it was a mistake but after looking at my old mat and noticing a line and a tear there, I realized it was supposed to be there.. they had pulled a replacement for me to will call so I called back to apologize and make nice

I ordered a low hump mat from the Truck Shop for my 63 C10. (They are made by "Counterpart".) It is a very nicely made mat. It fit perfect and the retaining holes were all in the exact right place. The rubber is nice, flexible, and has a good feel.

It is getting rare these days for aftermarket stuff to fit right. I was pleasantly surprised by this mat.

the truck shop mat went down pretty easy and most of the holes lined up with the impressions on the back..

especially pleased how well it sits in there since I dropped it right on the bare floor without tar or foam or anything yet..

$10 harbor freight gasket punch kit is probably spent, but did the trick for the mat and the seat..

even cleaned up all of the original pedal pads.. wd40 and steel toothbrush to clean and stand up a little fur to cut the gloss..

de-greased with 409 to get that squeaky, non-slip finish back..

my 6yo took some of these while I was trimming and fitting..

Yes, those stubs go through holes in the mat to hold the mat in position.

yes, the back of the mat is embossed for those.. each side has two up by the firewall and one in the rear edge, inboard next to the hump

I cut small holes for two of them and started laying the mat out to make sure it all lined up before continuing..

I cut small holes the size of the stem of those metal buttons and stretched the rubber over them for secure fit..

the floor shift hole was accurate but the clutch rod above the gas pedal was not embossed..

speedo and hand brake cables were close but I had to make small adjustment for best fit..

dimmer hole was embossed but I had to cut out for switch body..

again, I don't have any tar or foam underlayment so that may affect the height and cuts for others..

as mentioned above, material is nice and heavy and easy to work with and naturally fits the contour fairly well..

I could have done a better job all around, but this was the first one I've cut to fit and it is a work truck, not a garage queen

Just FYI for those installing as per original... the factory underlayment consisted of one contoured layer of heavy tar/felt about 1/8" thick, and then on top of that was one layer of thin foam also about 1/8" thick. No jute pad for trucks.

edited both of my post to state tar and foam which is what I scraped out to clean the floors..

I thought 'jute' was that tar paper mess, didn't realize what it was until I looked at pictures..

On my low hump mat from the Truck Shop, all the holes were already punched. I did not need to do anything except lay it in and pop it over the studs. Maybe the high hump mats are different?

^ well that's a good deal! low humps are auto trans I think, maybe all the same?

the high hump mat I have is embossed for trans shifter cutout and a slot with two small circles possibly for transfer case?

interesting though that the clutch linkage through the floor above the gas pedal was not embossed??

I should have taken pictures of the back side before I installed but hopefully we covered enough to help others installing theirs..

like everything that may require cutting/fitting, better to know as much as possible about what's involved beforehand..

I bought it from Fred's Truck Parts but it looks like they're closed down now. I'm sure other places carry it though.

high hump mat I bought from truck shop in may for my 65 had what appeared to be slot for transfer case shifter.. sorry no picture of under side..

mine smelled like a cross between harbor freight and pep boys, but considering the other smells that were in there, didn't bother me..

copious amounts of soap and water flushed out most of the bad smell and the new seat foam and nos fabric helped too..



among the mouse dwellings under the seat, mud dobbers filled both doors

Personal opinion of course, but I kinda like the old truck/car smells. It distinguishes it from the modern stuff that gets driven on a daily basis & reminds me of the "good ole days."

I bought mine from Southern Kentucky Classics and it is a beautiful fit, Had to cut out the section for the dimmer but aside from that, it's perfect.

I purchased a floor mat from Truck and Car Shop, 739 North Batavia, Orange, CA, 92868 in January 2020. http://www.truckandcarshop.com The mat arrived by UPS from California to Texas in about five business days.

The mat is manufactured by CarPart, part number 64-35100, description "64-66 Rubber Floor Mats Small transmission 3 speed/automatic low hump" (see picture of box label). The mat has cutouts for the speedometer cable, the handbrake cable, the dimmer switch, and the floor locating studs. However it does not have cutouts for the clutch actuating rod, which makes sense since it is also applicable for automatic transmissions. It also does not have cutouts for the floor mount gas pedal which is good because I plan to convert the gas pedal to a later style that does not mount to the floor.

My truck is a six cylinder, 3 speed manual with the shifter on the column and low hump transmission tunnel. I'll need to add the clutch rod cutout, and I will also use the cutouts in the mat to locate the replacement floor studs that were either missing or were cut out while repairing floor rust.

The mat has the smell of new rubber but it is not a strong odor in my workshop (but I don't have doors and glass in the truck yet).

The pictures show the mat straight out of the box, so it may relax a bit after it sits on the truck floor for awhile. I've also seen comments that the mats are designed to fit over a 1/8" to 1/4" jute padding which I don't have, although I do plan to install some sound deadener matting after painting.
