Mental problems?

Not sure if it is normal, or if I have a mental disorder... But I often think about old Chevy trucks sitting in the woods, rusting and rotting, and I just sit there and cringe... Wish I could rescue them all.

Re: Mental problems?

Outside of here your mental state could be questioned for such thoughts but in this forum you would be considered quite normal. Welcome to our corner of the world and like mindedness.

Re: Mental problems?

It may well be a mental problem, but we all have it! Wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: Mental problems?

I think if I could have every truck I’ve ever seen in a shed or in a field, I’d have about 40 by now. If it’s a sickness, call me crazy

I driven past this occasionally over the past 20 years and wondered the story behind it (sits out in the front yard) - so sad

Fellow nut jobs, its time to execute a nation wide rescue mission.
tigger, your on point. Stop and talk to the owner, ask about its history (good ice breaker) then be bold and say how you've been looking for one, and always dreamed of this one. Then, ask if it might be for sale.

Re: Mental problems?

I wouldn't be too concerned about what is normal and what isn't in this upside down world where doing the right thing in some cases is getting to be the wrong thing, right is wrong and wrong is right in many other cases. Do what pleases you and just watch out for other people's toes. If anyone doesn't like that, screw 'em. That's something they'll need to deal with themselves on.

I've actually bought quite a few trucks down in TX by knocking on doors and asking about the truck sitting in the yard (when the wife answers the door I know I have a good chance of things going my way).

Re: Mental problems?

Too funny, I must be related to most of you somehow! My wife also thinks I may be a little crazy, because when we travel, a lot of the scenery I point out is automotive. A couple of weeks ago, I hated to come home from door county without a 69 swb step side, with the spare tire still on the side. Hated to see it down graded to a flower bed!

Wife and I were coming back to Indianapolis from Arkansas and thru Mizzou, and we saw quite a few c10's along the way. We stopped and looked at almost all of them....even though none of them had for sale signs!

Mine's in the shop for a couple of weeks and I may need therapy before its all over. It's definitely my stress outlet. BTW, my wife loves "Little truck" as she calls it, LT for short.

Re: Mental problems?

When I was a kid I had a copy of the Guinness Book of World Record. Inside of it was a picture of a pile of pop can pull tabs that kids had collected - a MILLION of them.

It was a HUGE pile of tiny things, and really drove home how big a MILLION of anything really is.

So, while I would like to save all the trucks, they made a MILLION of them. Literally!

Re: Mental problems?

Actually I have a soft spot for old trucks, just sitting out there in the middle of nowhere, letting us know that they were once brand new!

Kinda makes me happy I'm rolling down the road in one that is still out there doing its little ol' thing!

Re: Mental problems?

I feel we are being very responsible by doing our part, all on our own with no funding, to preserve each of these pieces of United States history. I think it says great things about Americans, taking upon themselves such a challenge willfully and happily. It is men (largely) getting more in touch with their inner selves, with their feelings and emotions, in their own way, the man's way. It puts them together with others who enjoy the same and it is always a good friendly time. I wonder what is wrong with that? Better than thinking/talking about the news, traffic, regulations, money matters, and all the other crap we have to deal with. Having the trucks on your mind puts you in a better place. Should be good for a marriage.

HA! Another guy I know started doing Fords and has dropped out letting his stuff rot. He is now into the Forged in Fire thing and has over 20 k out without a single knife produced. I dont know what to think about that.
