Wiring harness firewall bolt

Hey guys I am replacing my dash, need to disconnect my wiring harness, I can't find the right socket to fit on the bolt that holds the under hood harness to the block where it comes through the firewall, anyone know what it is?

Mine's 1/4". There's tar like material inside holding it together also. You have to persuade it to come apart even after removing the bolt.

Re: Wiring harness firewall bolt

I found the right tool, on my 2000 it was a allen head. Thanks though!

Re: Wiring harness firewall bolt

Yeah I ran into that on my 97 GMC. Of all things, an allen head bolt in there instead of a regular hex head bolt. And in a place where you cannot see the bolt, just have to feel for it. That's BS right there.

Re: Wiring harness firewall bolt

hate to dig up and old thread, but can this harness be separated, for example separate the light harness plug and the engine plug from the connector?
I have installed a carb 350 and want to clean up the wiring that isn't being used
Thanks
