Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Pulled the seats from a pair of 2000 Chrysler Concorde's. Was going to go with the trustee old Bonneville seats, but wanted something a bit different this time around. I liked the rounded top of the instert which reminded me of the old 50s/60s interiors. Without headrests they should look decent I think.

On my way out to finish up mounting the rear seats and complete the brackets for the jump seat as well. Should have some pictures up tonight with all the seats mounted.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

wiring up the heaters is going to be interesting I think. If I am not mistaken the BCM (body control module) is needed. I am going to talk to a few buddies of mine and see if there is a way to put a resistor in place or something to that effect so that they will work and not burn the truck down.

Hope to be figuring that out in the next few weeks or so. Want to get the interior wiring harness swapped out and wired up, dash permanently mounted, and get my shipment of second skin installed as well. Then the shipment of $1000.00 worth of LMC parts should be here soon as well which includes new carpet, firewall insulation, kick panels with speakers, weather stripping, shortbox fuel tank, new lights, grill assembly (GMC of course...lol), cab lights, among a ton of other little parts.

Should be here any day now actually...

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Brackets all welded in place, seats mounted including jump seat for the rear, and has ok leg/foot room I guess. Not sure why GM never made the rear doors larger than what they did, cause even with the factory bench in the back, they didn't leave alot of room to get in and out. Should be good though, will be my kids riding in the back for the most part.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

thanks....

Trying to get more done on the dash today/tonight, along with some defrost vents. Thinking I am going to do something along the same lines I think with them. Going to put a fine mesh in behind maybe? And same with the A/C vents in the dash. thinking I will do the same design as the speakers as well.

Time will tell by the end of the night..lol.

This is a sweet build! I like the seats, I like the dash, i like everything.
Where'd you get the seats and for how much if you don't mind me asking?
Keep me up to date on what you gotta do to make the seat heaters work.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

On my way out the door to buy another crew cab 4x4 with a 454 in it right now, will post up the progress pics of crew'd attitude here soon. Also picked up another 2wd crew for parts with a bell tech lowering kit in it for cheap.

Can't wait to get the new crew home tonight. Have to drive 6 hours to get it. Be back soon.

lol...

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

When I saw the dash on the ground I didn't think it would be all that cool. Seeing it in the truck however...nice job. Looks really cool. Speaker holes are a nice touch.

How much of a pain was installing the factory AC unit? I am considering it as well.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Thanks guys...

Swapping over the AC is painstaking.....but not super hard. I just sectioned another firewall from one of my donors to splice into the project fire wall. Do alot of measureing, double checking etc.

As for the seats (someone was asking), 2000 Chrysler Concorde.

For the parts crew and the new crew I got home with at 5am this morning...pics soon. Took the day off to take the kids to the lake for the day and just got home. Will have some pics tomorrow.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Ok...well been a long day so far. And dissapointing in some ways. I guess I'll start with the good news first. The crew cab 2wd (brown) was a sweet deal at $300.00 (wheels are not included unfortunatley), but had a Bell Tech lowering kit with spindles in the front of it, an uncracked dash pad (for my other projects), and 2 decent bench seats to resell. I also turned the back half into a trailer that may or may not be a matched set to the truck later....lol.

As for the crew cab 4x4 I just picked up the other nite (blue), it was supposed to be a 454 truck but when I got there it was only a 350, but not the end of the world. The issue became when I got under it with a flash light it seemed as though there was only a few small issues with rust on the rocker and drivers floor board. This is EXACTLY why you never buy a truck at night...lol. Looked her over today and someone was under it with fiberglass etc to patch up some issues. So needless to say I was not extatic about it, but I guess at least once I sell the service box, and some other items I am not going to use I should come close to breaking even. Picked her up for $1300 bux in the end. Really wish she had that 454 in her though...lol. Truck has a T400/205 combo, so that is nice. Truck will more than likely get a cummins or LS swap eventually anyways so I will just sell off this crap anyways. It's an 88 FI 350 now.....nothing special.

So anyways.....the project I got some accomplished as I have the drop spindles in, some coils I had laying around (too short....waaay to shoort..lol), so am going to cut a ring off the factories and put them in. Hoping that won't be to much. Have the dash fully welded in and defrost vents drilled (PITA!), and had to heat and shrink a few places that warped on me over the months past but all good in the end. First coat of filler on it to level things out, hope to have things in primer in the next month or so. Having a hell of a time finding enough hours in the day lately.

Till next time....

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Well, not a whole lot to report.....but I decided to buy the wheels off of the brown parts truck I picked up. Ended up buying the wheels for $400 bux, not a steal my any means but will suffice till I can find a set of 19.5's and have them machined down. Can't really justify the cost of a set of machined 22's at this point, as much as I would love to. Time will tell on that later....

So here is the wheels, took a DA sander to them as they had some nasty gouges n such in the wheels here and there and some corrosion where the lugs meet the wheels. Used 80g first, then worked down to a 400g....then directional motion with some scotchbrite pads to get the brushed look. The truck will see daily driving and gravel roads n such....so high polished/high maintenance wheels are not my goal here.

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

Managed to get some small things done over the past few weeks. Welded/shaved the roof seam, drip rails, and cab emblems. Replaced the passenger side cab corner, couple holes in the roof from cb antenna's etc. Installed the belltech spindles, dropped one ring off of the factory coils, alcoa's installed.

I mono foamed the roof (hold the flaming), due to having issues getting the roof sanded out properly as the roof likes to move being such a large panel. So decided to drill numerous 1/4" hols in the inside panel and fill with low expansion foam. Worked EXCELLENT! Roof is firm now and not as tinny of a sound either. You can push on the roof and it doesn't sink either. Took the better part of 4 cans. Will be doing this to the 4x4 build as well when I get her home....oh ya, bought another crew cab....lol. Like I needed a 4th!

Re: Project: Crew'd Attitude

probably around a dozon or so at least. I just guestimated around every 8" or so. The low expansion stuff won't push the panels out...DONT use the normal stuff!

Now when I hit the roof with the board sander the roof isn't bouncing all over the place making it very hard to get the roof straight while sanding. That and shouldn't have to worry about the roof pushing in as easy now with any type of weight.

Looks like its coming along very nice!

I'm going to use your tip on the Mono foam in my roof too cuz it bends all over the place when I try to sand it.

When you foamed the roof did you drill from inside the cab or through the roof?
