Swapping from v6 to v8

Hey all is it possible to use the ECM and engine wiring from a 94 c1500 in a 95 c1500? Will the air bag still work? And what about the ABS Are them separate from the engine ECM ? Little lost here I'm trying to put a 94 305 and trans into a 95 that had a 4.3. Or could I just use the V8's ECM? I have read that I will burn up the trans. But I have also read that I will just get check engine light on.Man I hate all this computer crap.. I need to stick to body and paint easy.
Any help would be great.

Re: Swapping from v6 to v8

I was told by my trans rebuild shop when I was contemplating the 98 5.7 swap that our 96 S10 with 4.3/4l60E/4wd 3.42 would need the complete ecm and wiring from the 98 5.7 plus a k1500 4l60e to make it work as the 4.3 has some pressure control on the trans that the v8 trans does not.

You want to use the ECM from the 4.3 on the 5.7? I think you'll need the V8 ECM but I'm not sure.

No I have the ECM motor and trans from the donor truck 94 305 V8. Put the motor in a 95 that had a V6. So going to use the ECM motor and trans From the 94.
