window regulator spline

I bought a new window regulator for my truck a year or so ago and the splines were cast wrong and it keeps stripping out handles.

I have filed them etc with no luck.

I have looked at the regulator rebuild kits that include the replacement shaft.

I would rather not have to remove the whole window and vent etc as I just finished touching up all my paint scratches and chips etc.

Has anyone done changed a regulator shaft without removing the regulator?

They only list the rebuild kits up to 63. Anyone know if the rebuild kit will work on a 64?

I searched and didn't find my answers.

Re: window regulator spline

If it still works OK other than the spline...JB Weld? . Seriously, you can replace it now or later.

It will require a disc grinder and some careful cutting to remove, though.
