Re: Social Distancing ?

We had the house full of workers today, so we drove through Burger King and pulled to the side in the shade and ate.

That Burger King is doing a lot more business now than a couple of weeks ago when the dining room was open.

We do mostly municipal utilities. The supplies for those jobs is usually on site when we start.

They closed the quarry Tuesday morning and opened it back up today.

Our head mechanic was telling me this morning that he has to call Fleetpride Truck Parts to order and they come to the door and throw it at him. I don't know if they are doing deliveries.
The house is in Colorado Springs.

Being the owner of a furniture store, I am a non essential. That was my last deposit I can make since I've been forced to close. We were kickin tail up til then, I presume it was from the income tax refund surge in business we typically see this time of year, but also I think because people knew what was coming and wanted to be comfortable while they were stuck in the house.

On my way home I stopped in Autozone to pick up a universal fuel pump for my tractor that crapped out. Same thing going on in there with the bright colored tape on the floor, this place even had a couple of bright orange traffic cones with some signs taped on them. I glanced at them and gave them the once over. Then I headed back to look on the shelves for the fuel pump. The manager comes shuffling my way with a sense of urgency about him and I tell him what I need. He then informs me that I was now that guy who didn't follow the rules. I was supposed to stop at the cones and ask them to fetch what I was lookin for. I felt like someone probably rolled their eyes at me. O well, Ya win some ya loose some.
Last week I stop at a Casey’s in Mound City Kansas (65 miles from home)to get a cola refill for on my way home.ltrom work. I get the cola and step up to the counter to pay and tell the guy behind the counter “refill” He tells me they can’t do refills. I say ok, I pay whatever. He says didn’t you read the signs. I just shrugged. Finally after a couple of times saying he can’t do refill... he says $1.24. or something. I pay and walk out the door and pass another fella coming in and he coughs right as he is passing me. That’s when I realize what the Casey’s guy was talking about. I never did see the signs.

I always show them my cup when I walk in the store. When I showed it to the cashier the last time I was in there she said "take it back out to your car". She did give me the new cup at the refill price though, I thought that was nice of her.

Re: Social Distancing ?

I just finished my first full week of working for Lowes. I spent forty years in the copier/printer business. Working retail is a whole different animal.

They built "sneeze guards" for all the registers. The floors are well marked for keeping your distance from others in lines. Lots of signs in the entrance area to remind everyone to keep your distance.

So far its been a pretty good experience. One guy tried to buy more than the allotted amount of toilet paper. The display is very well marked ... One per. Guy really put up a snit going on about how unfare it is ... blah blah. Eventually he just handed his extra package to his buddy so he could pay for it.

We are very short staffed though. Lowes highers a lot of older folks and they told them they could stay home with some sort of extended pay so a lot of them took advantage of that.

I don't know much about daily sales but I do know they are substantially higher than what their projections were. We have a mid morning ra ra get together and they let us know about the goings on of the store. The parking lot really fills up with shoppers mid morning and just keeps busy till closing.

Thanks. I hope so

Just have to have things settle down enough to get down there and empty it out. Colorado is not the place to be going right now.

That reminds me. 2 weeks ago I went to a wedding then the reception. The reception was at the brides mother and stepdads place out in the country. A real nice place. Beautiful day outside. I’m talking with some folks around my age and all the sudden I smell a skunk. So I scan my surroundings and low and behold a circle of about 8 or 9 millenials sparked up a joint behind me. Now I really didn’t fit in with anyone there to start with, that’s when the “awkward turtle” showed up.
Pretty sure there were only a few of us that had the social distancing down. That was before everything went south with our current “national emergency”.
I’m not judging but when that stuff isn’t on your radar anymore it feels weird watching people get high. I left before the keg was tapped.

Re: Social Distancing ?

This stay at home time will result in two things. A lot of divorces and a baby boom in about 9 months!

I am anti-social so this separation is not a big deal for me. My wife and I are getting a lot of work done around the house, reading and watching fluff on TV. The news is too depressing.

I don't watch the news either. If I wanted to get depressed I'd just look in the mirror.

Limited to ten people sharing one joint

Really though I can't imagine how there is any more weed now since it was everywhere in the 1970s and 1980s. We hardly knew anyone our own age that wasn't smoking pot, which I guess is why almost all our friends were 20-30 years older than us. We are that age now and I reckon pretty much all our friends from those days are passed on.
