glove box light on a 65?

Hi folks,
I have this little bulb socket hanging down from the dash near my glove box. Honestly not even sure if it's hooked up to anything, or if it's supposed to be there. Any ideas?

As you can kinda see from the 2nd pic, the wire appears to be wrapped around the brace there. I don't see anywhere obvious that it's supposed to be.

I don't think a glove box light was available on our trucks. The grey wire tells me that it comes up when you switch on the headlights. So it should be mounted somewhere in the dash or maybe the original radio.

That's definitely not a glove box light. Looks like a dash light as mentioned above. I had a glove box light in my 65 Suburban and the socket is different and it takes a real small bulb

It looks like the light for the heater controls. It pushes into the hole in the upper rear of the heater control panel.

I have the thrift air heater control, don't think there's a spot for a bulb to go. I need to see if I can trace the wiring, Ithe way it is wrapped around things I wonder if it's even hooked up, and if so, where.

Okay, got in there and pulled that light out. It wasn't attached to anything, it was like the wire was being used to hold the glove box in place. Very weird. Makes me wonder what the hell happened to this truck before I bought it.

There was an optional glove box light. Had a pin switch facing the door and the light at the other end.
