New battery, but won’t start unless on a jumper box

Help me out here guys. Truck barely turns over like battery is low so since the battery was actually 10 yrs old, I replaced it, figuring that was the issue. As early thing with the brand new battery. Turns over very slowly but if I hook up my jumper box, it starts right up. Checked battery with a multimeter & it shows good, alternator is putting out/ charging fine & I have cleaned/ tightened/ checked the terminals & ground connection on the cables.

Truck was stored at a friends house for 6 months while I was moving & after jumping it off initially, did fine on the 275 mi trip over a couple weeks ago.

Any ideas on what to check/ test next? Thanks!

How are you hooking up the jumper box? To plus and minus battery terminals or plus terminal and engine ground?

New batteries can be bad.....
Need to take new battery to parts store, have them load test it, that will tell you....

May swap in another battery that I know is good first. Where I just moved to in the men’s is about a 35 mi round trip!

Re: New battery, but won’t start unless on a jumper box

Just went out & swapped the battery from the 69 Mustang over & it started right up. Must be a load issue with the new battery as voltage shows fine with no load on it.

Thanks guys!

Interested in what you all suggest in regards to replacement starter options

Re: New battery, but won’t start unless on a jumper box

Sounds like a duralast battery. They don't last and have problems.
Interstate batteries worth the few extra bucks.
Get it load tested as mentioned here. Or just push for another one
