58 apache

Hey guys. i have a few questions to ask. my brother in law Tyler (16, great kid, lost his hearing when he was young, but loves the rumble of a V8 and the thump of a badass stereo) just bought a 58 apache longbed. we are gonna start on it in a few weeks here and was wondering how much do i cut out of the bed to make it a short box. is it the same as my 68', 12" and 8" or is it different. what is the wheelbase. Also i am gonna put a clip under it, he does not have a ton of money so we are gonna use a 81 chev truck clip and the matching rear. i read that the clip is one inch wider, will this pose problems for rims and tires under this truck. i will post pics of this build as we are doin it. Thanx for the help. Thanx for the help. (resident bodyman)

Re: 58 apache

Shortbox = 114" wheelbase
longbox = 123.25" wheelbase
remove 9.25"
You will also have to remove at least 8" from the rear of the frame behind the wheels. I believe they made 2 different length long boxes but they had the same wheelbases. the amount coming out of the rear depends on which box you have.
