horse-shoe small block engine mounts / oil pan

Hey All,

my truck has a (non original) v8, using the original type horse-shoe v8 mounts, and I am looking at doing the oil pump this weekend ... does anybody know if the pan will come out without lifting / pulling the engine?

2nd question - do I have to pull the starter to pull the pan?

Thanks guys!!

Re: horse-shoe small block engine mounts / oil pan

I had to drop the pan after I put the engine back in because I used the wrong pan seal. I was able to do it easily though. My truck is a 63, so I'm not sure if there is much difference between the cross members.

I did not remove the starter. All I had to do was drop the exhaust and rotate the engine to where the counterweight of the crank was up in the block at the front of the engine
