Re: need some tips on putn a camaro subframe on 57 chevy pickup

For all of the measurements I bought the DVD from No Limit engineering. They are a premium sponsor here too so can probably help you better if u buy the DVD and still have questions... Best money I have spent yet on my build.
You can also run the weary feature on subframe swap, theres like a dozen subframe threads

Good luck! The conversion is a rewarding one!

Re: need some tips on putn a camaro subframe on 57 chevy pickup

I did a subfram swap on a 57 a couple of years ago and I almost went the same way as Nolimit, but for my taste, it sits way to low when done. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...amaro+subframe
I did the swap by follwing this post on HAMB, and it was awesome when I was done!

hmm Im a little confused by this... the way the HAMB link installed the subframe, actually makes the vehicle sit LOWER (if i'm not mistaken) than the No-limit install. the higher the subframe sits above the frame, the lower the truck will sit.
when I did the No-limit install my subframe was at the same level as the original frame, the method you mention, and also similarly shown by the post below yours, have the subframe sitting above the original frame, thus the wheels will be higher in the wheel well, dropping the truck front end.

Maximus,

You are correct it does make the truck lower (installing the clip under the frame) than the no limit way (even with the frame rails) because it does not have the kick up like when you install the clip with the unibody supports under the frame. I don't like getting in debates so I did not say anything, but since you said it first I thought I'd chime in.lol

By the way there is no such thing as too low.lol

I stand corrected on the height issue after taking a peek at both methods.

But for some reason my truck didn't seem to sit as low in the front as the no limit way. These trucks look good with a bit of a lowered stance, but IMO there is a point when it looks retarded.

Yeah, yeah and its people that feel the same about a truck that sits too high, so to each his own. When you say things like that it is insulting to a lot of people. If you don't like it simply don't do it. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Some guys like big women some like em small skinny legs and all.lol
But nobody is wrong about what they like.

Kabwe, my brother in-law has a disclaimer for the debaters.it goes something like this:
My opinion is just that.It is NOT open for debate. It is just my opinion!

Hence the reason I said IMO (In MY Opinion)
If you get offended that easy, perhaps you should be on the Discovery web site tonight voting for Paul Jr because it hurt your feelings that Jessie James cheated on Sandra.

Nope I'm not offended at all. There are a lot of people here that work very hard on their rides and like them low and even slammed to the ground on airbags. Those same people have a lot of knowledge, and comb this forum to try and help people. You've just called their rides "retarded looking". If you don't see that as a insult then that tells me something about you and there is no need to go back and forth on this.

The gentelman (original poster) asked for the facts. The fact is installing the clip with the unibody supports under the frame will give you a lower stance (with stock components) than if you installed it even with the frame rails. Its up to the original poster to decide what he is going to do now that he is armed with the information.

You got that right. I'm a car nut and I like everything from stock to way out customs. I know how hard this stuff is to do on your own in your garage, people work very hard to build something they like and I think its very insulting to make a statement like "retarding looking" when a guy bust his a$$ to build his truck.
