Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

Wife and I have a '99 4WD old body style Tahoe with the 5.7. Been a good ride, have had it nearly 8 years now. "Kinda" looking around to up grade maybe to an 05-06 Tahoe, possibly an 07. Because of the useage we have with our current Tahoe would like to know when or what year the rear floor is not longer flat with the removal of the third seat and folding the center bench. Our 82, 88 and 91 Suburbans all had a complely flat floor with third seat removed and center seat folded, same as our '99 Tahoe. Seems the newer body styles don't have a completly flat floor any more and that is an issue for us.

Re: Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

My 2000 NBS Tahoe has a "flat floor" but it does not have 3rd row.

Re: Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

My bad. Didn't realize the floor changed given it's the same body style as an 05-06.

Re: Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

I've built several wrecked Tahoe and Suburbans and Yukon&[XL]up to the body style change in 07 [that is when they went to the body style they had until the change they just did for the 15's]and they all have been flat. It matters not about the third seat option, they have a clamshell type latching system that locks into the floor but it is flush with the floor. I can tell you this I was invited to bid on some 2010 PPV Tahoe that were being disposed of by a local law enforcement agencies and looking at the rear deck of those they also have flat floors when the seat would fold down from behind the driver to the tailgate. Re: Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

hugger, thanks for the reply. That's the answer and information I was needing. With that I will pretty well limit my search for an 04 thru the 06 model years. For several reasons having the flat floor is an issue for my wife and I. I do appreciate your input for this.

Re: Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

Just a heads up from someone who sees these trucks from the other side of the service counter. I see a whole lot more 07 and newer than the previous years.

My wife has a 99 Tahoe just like you. Granted, the new body ones ride a bit smoother but I'd rather keep the 99

Re: Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

68C15, I take it you are meaning the '07 and newer Tahoes are more prone to needing mechanical, electrical, computer issues attended to? I have also noticed that the newer vehicles all seem (95% anyway) to have a leather interior for seating. NOT FOR ME OR THE WIFE, neither one of us like the leather. Heated or AC'd seats is just another gimmick to go bad in my opinion and expensive to fix I'm sure. I like the ol' cloth interiors, that's one reason why we bought the '99 years ago. The '99 has 159K on it and runs good, guess will keep running it awhile longer, LOL

Re: Tahoe Interior Bed Floor ?

Ironhourse,
My 07 GMC Crew cab truck (same motor in the Tahoe's your considering) had to get the motor replaced with 85K miles under warranty. The cylinder shutdown issue was cooking the oil I guess (according to the service manager). It was a bit of an argument until I had them topping off the Mobil 1 every time it was low.
I also tried to let them replace the lifters (the fix that they decided to do and wasn't working) prior to replacing the motor but it didn't fix the issue.
I've found the only thing that keeps coming up as an issue is the traction control light comes on intermittently. Ive chased the codes and replaced everything that's coming up. Its showing a code for the throttle pedal switch now so that's the next on the list. I priced it and the switch is the entire pedal assembly at a cost of $177.
Im not bashing the truck or GM products just a mention in case you pull the history of a truck at the dealership and see any of these issues as previously serviced.
Good luck on your search!
