headlight switch wiring diagram?

Can any one send me a wiring diagram for a 68 headlight switch. I have just recently put my truck back together and now my headlights do not work.

Thanks AMullis

Re: headlight switch wiring diagram?

These are two that I have. The second one is for the 69 and later. The 67 and maybe the 68 would not power the parking lights in the full out position.

Re: headlight switch wiring diagram?

Not to hijack this thread or anything but just have a question in hopes somebody could answer it. I installed relays for my headlights, then rewired it so that the lights come on and off only with the key. But now i'm looking to find a way to reverse the operation of the headlight switch. Basically, instead of being off when the switch is all the way in, i want it on when switch is in, and off when all the way out (still retain the on only with key on too). It seems all that's needed is to swap terminal 6 with terminal 7, correct? I know the idea is way out of left field but it seems like a nifty thing to do.

Re: headlight switch wiring diagram?

Hey guys, I have just purchased a rebuilt tilt column for my 72 Blazer and there is a horseshoe wiring connector but also a single wire with a spade connector. CPP said that goes to the bulb that lights up the gear indicator and that it should connect to the lighting switch but I don't see any place to connect it to. I think it should go to the dash light output but any ideas?
Thanks

Re: headlight switch wiring diagram?

Mine looked factory and daisy chained from the heater controls bulb.

Re: headlight switch wiring diagram?

Here goes the first of many dumb questions..
I have reacquired a 68 that we built about 12 years ago. Not to get into to much detail but I'm redoing the electrical mess from the PO. A tractor switch was used for the headlight and the OEM is causing me grey hair. The only live lug is the HI/LO and NOTHING ELSE. Every thing else works with a 12 jumper wire so I don't think that's an issue. Ground is OK, went as far as a jumper from the switch to the battery. Any Ideas???
PS Thanks for the diagram was a lifesaver thanks to LMC's harness and lack of instructions.

Welcome!

Are you feeding power to both the red & orange wires? Or just the red one?

The red wire is the 12V input for the headlight circuit and it only powers the light blue (high/low) wire when the switch is turned on.

This diagram is a bit misleading in the way it has the orange wire labeled as "dome/courtesy".

The orange wire is a 12V feed for the dome/courtesy lights. But it is also a 12V feed to the headlight switch and is used to power the parking / tail / dash light circuits.

Re: headlight switch wiring diagram?

Just the red. Another 12 volt feed would explain the weird impedance readings I was getting fooling around with the switch. I'll go run another feed right now.

Thanks millions, that's why you ask questions.
